Day1: A Pilots journey to fighting cancer.
I know, not a pretty sight and yes a very sad day. 1997, a Boeing 747 crashed killing 250 plus passengers and crew.
First, let me promise this is the only time I will share pictures of airline crashes. The point I wish to make is this. When a jumbo jet crashes anywhere in the world killing say, 500 people, it is instant news. All over the world mainstream media covers the story. Bold gruesome pictures on every news cast, on every newspaper, non stop coverage on the investigation finding the cause, and the added sadness of the shocked families morning the loss of their loved ones.
How would you react if there were news that 2 jumbo airliners crashed on the same day killing 1000 people. Now that would be unbelievable and enormously tragic! The whole entire world would be in disbelief. Well, lets take it one step further. How about 3 jumbo jets crashing on the exact same day killing 1500 people. Unheard of! How could something so awful be explained? There would be a public outrage demanding for something to be changed to never allow this to ever happen again. The coverage from such a horrific day would never end.
Okay. Well, would you like to guess how many people die everyday from Cancer? How about this year? Here is a link that will give you a current update.

2013, 3.7 million! Further searching will expose some numbers for the USA alone. 1500 people everyday will die from Cancer. That's right, 1500 people in the States, that's 3 jumbo jets. You see how this is tying together!? Why isn't this tragic news in our face everyday? Why isn't there a public outcry? What the hell is happening????? How is it we are allowing this to go on and on and on?
In November 2005 my entire life was changed for ever. I was blessed with an amazing life, wonderful family, awesome job as a Captain on a Boeing 737. Found a lump in my right groin. 3 months of extensive testing, the diagnosis...
Malignant Metastatic Melanoma stage 3B Unknown primary. Yup, lots of words. The bottom line, according to the numbers, a 2% chance of survival. This will be my blog how I dealt with this, how it affected my family, how I was grounded and no longer could fly, how I dove into the unregulated world of natural/alternative health care. I am not a professional writer. I have no training in doing these web pages. It will be a work in progress.
Fast forward to May 2013, well, I have been cancer free since April 2009. NED actually! Not remission, NO EVIDENSE OF DISEASE!!! I returned to flying duties in April 2010! Even after the Oncologists told me I would never fly again. I will be the first to admit it was obviously no cake walk. I was literally experimenting with anything I could get my hands on. It pushed my marriage to almost being done. My religious beliefs were tested and challenged to make sense of this awful disease. The why me, why me??????? Oh, it's a nasty game. My first hand expose to the treatment system and dealing with the Doctors and drugs.
And now, BAM!! I am finally going to try and put some of this all on this blog. Something I did helped me beat a cancer disease that is very aggressive and unpredictable. I will not profit in anyway monetarily from this. It will be interesting to get some clarity from trying to put this into writing and perhaps in someway others may gain something from what I endured and overcame while they battle their health issues. So, join me if you may, while we kick this beast in the F***ing ASS and wake up to the possibilities of a loving abundant fulfilling life and make this a world a better place for every person and creature.
Happy landings.
Great injection of life, thank you!
